GOP Claims Software Error Switched 6,000 Republican Votes to Democrat, Used in 47 Michigan Counties

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and other GOP officials said the fight over the presidential election isn’t over, saying that 47 counties in the state may have used software that was detected to have allocated votes to Democrat Joe Biden instead of President Donald Trump in one county.
“In Antrim County, ballots were counted for Democrats that were meant for Republicans causing a 6,000-vote swing against our candidates,” Michigan GOP Chairwoman Laura Cox said in a news conference Friday. “The county clerk came forward and said tabulating software glitched and caused a miscalculation of the votes.”
Cox added: “Since then, we have now discovered that 47 counties use this same software in the same capacity. Antrim County had to hand count all of the ballots, and these counties that use this software needs to closely examine their results for similar discrepancies.”
A number of news outlets, including The Associated Press and Decision Desk, have declared Michigan for Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Biden is currently leading Trump by about 146,000 votes.
After the discrepancy was found in Antrim County, election officials questioned the results. They said the problem was identified by local election authorities and reviewed Wednesday, according to the Detroit News.
In one instance in Oakland County, a computer error led officials to declare Democrat Melanie Hartman the winner before they reversed it and declared incumbent Adam Kochenderfer, a Republican, the winner of the Oakland County’s 15th county commission District, the Detroit Free Press reported.
“I thought that was that,” Kochenderfer said. “Those were the results, and I said I would not seek a recount.”
Oakland County Director of Elections Joe Rozell told the paper that the error was due to a computer issue at a city clerk’s office. He didn’t elaborate on the issue or if it was the same software used in Antrim County.
“A computer issue in Rochester Hills caused them to send us results for seven precincts as both precinct votes and absentee votes. They should only have been sent to us as absentee votes,” Rozell said.
The RNC has deployed legal teams to Michigan. No lawsuit has yet to be announced over the software.
“We will not give up on this process until every last issue has been resolved,” McDaniel said in the news conference.
Cox and McDaniel also alleged that there were irregularities in Detroit, asserting that Republican poll-watchers were denied access to the vote-counting process in some places.
The Michigan Board of Elections has not yet responded to a request for comment about Cox’s claims.
The Michigan Democratic Party issued a statement Friday following the GOP’s claims of misconduct.
“The clerks in Michigan have done an incredible job this, and every election cycle, despite little to no support from the Republican-controlled legislature,” said Party Chair Lavora Barnes to MLive. “We join local clerks in calling for reforms to the election system that will decrease legislative barriers and provide clerks additional resources to allow them to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.”

Nevada Voter Alleges Fraud: I Went to Vote and Was Told I Already Voted

A Nevada woman alleges somebody stole her mail-in ballot and voted in her name. She’s part of a federal lawsuit by the Trump campaign demanding the state to stop counting illegal votes.
“I went to vote and was told I already voted,” Jill Stoake said during a Nov. 5 Trump campaign press briefing. “I pursued the matter and in years past I always voted in person. This time, they mailed out the ballot and somebody took my ballot. They also took the ballot of my roommate.”
Nevada decided to mail ballots to all registered voters this year, a move that has led to problems.
Before the primaries in Clark County, Nevada, which covers the Las Vegas metro area, more than 223,000 mail ballots bounced due to old or wrong addresses, according to the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), which tallied the data.
PILF, a right-leaning election watchdog, also found that some Nevada voters registered at commercial addresses, which the state doesn’t allow. When a PILF investigator visited some of the addresses, he found no sign of the voters actually living there. One address was an empty lot.
Voter rolls are notoriously messy. One of the most common problems is that people fail to update their registrations when they move. At least some states have mechanisms to update the addresses, but there’s a lag. If the voter moved to another state, the process to drop them from the origin state’s rolls could take years. The same applies for deceased voters, who sometimes stay on the rolls well past their passing.
The Trump campaign is alleging that votes were cast for both the deceased and non-residents in Nevada and that the campaign wasn’t allowed to inspect the ballot verification.
“We were told that signatures would save us from all fraud. But to date, we still have not been able to observe these signatures or meaningfully challenge a single mail-in ballot out of hundreds of thousands of casts. We firmly believe that there are many voters in this group of mail-in people that are not proper voters,” said Adam Laxalt, former Nevada Attorney General and co-chairman of Trump’s campaign in Nevada, during the briefing.
He said the campaign believes some dead peoples’ votes were counted as well as those of thousands of people who moved out of the county during the CCP virus pandemic and thus weren’t eligible to vote there.
The participants didn’t take press questions during the hearing and instead told reporters to direct their questions to Clark County.
The Clark County Election Department didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Trump campaign is filing lawsuits and alleging election irregularities in multiple states where the current counts indicate Trump is behind by a tight margin.

Philadelphia Sheriff Not Enforcing Court Order on Poll Observers, Trump Campaign Says

Trump campaign officials said on Thursday that the Philadelphia sheriff is refusing to enforce a judge’s order that compels election officials to allow Republican observers adequate access to monitor the ballot count.
Earlier on Thursday, Commonwealth Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon, a Democrat, ordered that effective immediately “all candidates, watchers, or candidate representatives be permitted to be present for the canvassing process … and be permitted to observe all aspects of the canvassing process within 6 feet.”
Trump campaign associate Pam Bondi told reporters outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Thursday afternoon that the election officials inside have moved the barricade within 6 feet of the counting area but defied the court order by moving all of the counting machines to the back of the building where they cannot be seen.
“They are still not in compliance,” Bondi said. “It’s unbelievable what they are trying to do to our votes that have been legally cast.”
“They will not let us see anything,” Bondi added. “Now, we’re going to take further remedy to fix this.”
“They are defying a court order by a judge and this is not the last of this.”
Trump campaign associate Corey Lewandowski said that a private attorney inside the building informed the Republican poll observers that “she would determine if the court order was valid or not.”
“They have eight attorneys fighting us to see these ballots inside,” Lewandowski said. “The court order is in effect. They will not give us access and the sheriff has decided not to come down here to enforce that court order.”
The Office of Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal, a Democrat, did not respond to a voicemail left with the office of its public information officer.
Trump campaign officials said on Nov. 4 that observers had been forced to watch ballots being counted from as far away as 100 feet. Election officials used a barricade and some type of security guard to keep observers from getting closer, Bondi told reporters on Nov. 4
The Philadelphia City Commissioners said in a statement that the vote count was resuming just after noon, following “a brief pause” in light of the ongoing litigation. “It has resumed in accordance with the law,” it said.
The city appealed the ruling to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
According to the appeal asking for an emergency review, the ruling “is wrong, and because it jeopardizes both the safety of the City Defendants’ canvass, plus the privacy of voters, immediate allowance of appeal is warranted.”
A spokeswoman for the court didn’t respond to an inquiry.
Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes are up for grabs, with Trump in the lead and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden not yet out of the running.
Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court earlier this year ruled that any ballots received by Nov. 6 and either postmarked by Nov. 3 or not definitively postmarked after Election Day must be counted.
According to unofficial results from the Pennsylvania Department of State on Thursday morning, Trump was ahead with 3.2 million votes to Biden’s 3 million.
Trump said late Wednesday that he won Pennsylvania.
Biden’s campaign has said they’re confident the final tally will see the Democrat on top.

Rep. Van Drew, Who Switched to GOP Because of Trump Impeachment, Wins Reelection

The former Democrat U.S. representative who switched parties over House Democrats’ impeachment of President Donald Trump won reelection in a tight race in New Jersey, according to new projections.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.) won another term, outlets including the Associated Press projected on Friday.
Van Drew, 67, is a former state lawmaker who won his first term in 2018.
He was challenged by Democrat Amy Kennedy, 41, a former public school teacher and the wife of former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.).
According to the latest results, Van Drew received nearly 160,000 votes, about 15,500 more than Kennedy.
Van Drew declared victory on Tuesday with a lead of around 10,000.
“This has been a long, hard, brutal election,” Van Drew told a crowd of about 200 supporters at the Oar House Restaurant in Sea Isle City. “A lot of money was spent to remove me from my seat.”
Kennedy last issued a statement on Thursday, writing: “There are tens of thousands of ballots still to be counted. Every vote needs to be counted and every voice needs to be heard.”

A request for comment sent to the Kennedy campaign wasn’t immediately returned.
Van Drew made the unusual move of switching parties while in office late last year after expressing displeasure with both the impeachment proceedings against Trump and the Democrat Party’s leftward lurch.
“I believe that this is just a better fit for me. This is who I am. It’s who I always was, but there was more tolerance of moderate Democrats, of blue-dog Democrats, of conservative Democrats. And I think that’s going away,” he said.
Trump in turn endorsed Van Drew’s reelection campaign.
Republicans have done well in House races this year, carving into the Democrats’ majority by flipping a number of seats across the nation. With most races called, the GOP has gained five seats, including one held by ex-Republican Rep. Justin Amash (L-Mich.).
“President Trump’s monumental help has expanded the House Republican coalition, from Miami to Minnesota to California,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters this week.
